The Shiba Inu is the smallest of the six original breeds from Japan. It is similar in body build to an Akita but much smaller. The word shiba usually refers to a type of red shrub in Japan and the word inu means dog. Therefore, some believe the name shiba inu derives from the common red color of this breed or the typical use as hunting dogs. However, in old Japanese, the word shiba means small, so the name could also reference the dog’s size. Overall, the name is commonly translated as “little brushwood dog.”

The Korean Jindo dog is a hunting breed that originated in Jindo Island in Korea. Although it is relatively unknown outside of Korea, it is highly celebrated and valued for its fierce loyalty and bravery. The Jindo is a medium sized dog, weighing between about 25 to 50 pounds. It is double-coated and looks like a spit-type dog. Two body styles, Gyupgae and Heutgae, exist. Gyupgae describes a shorter, compact, and more muscular body while Heutgae expresses a slender dog, with less depth of chest and a longer loin. Korean law only officially recognizes white and yellow Jindos as having correct coloration. However, the United Kennel Club recognizes five different coat colors of white, fawn, grey, black and tan, and brindle.

Many first time dog owners can’t see why crate training is useful, because it first glance it seems that locking up a puppy in a relatively small cage is the last thing it wants. Worse, some believe the crate should be used as a punishment which is definitely not the case. A crate should be a safe place for the dog to go, where he feels comfortable and happy. It can be a place where he can retire if tired and needing a break from human interaction. In short, a crate is a dogs private space.
Are you looking for excellent accessories for your pool? This article will provide you some tips which will help you in finding the right cover for your pool. There are several accessories which are being sold in the market. One of the functional accessories is a pool cover. There are many home owners who keep the pool closed most of the times. The pool should be covered after draining the water. The covered pool is always protected from bad weather conditions, debris and leaves. Even the filled swimming pool should be covered. A covered pool decreases the risk of accidents. I have heard about many drowning situations at open pools.
Summer is finally here and many people will seize the opportunities presented by warm and long days to take the entire family, including the dog, out on the boat. The people will all wear lifejackets to combat the potential hazards of waves, falling overboard, and anything else that could befall a person on a boat. Logic would hold that safety precautions should be taken for dogs as well.
The “Wait At The Door” Training Procedure
Step 1: Have your dog sit by your side as you face the door (inside of the house). Be sure that the door opens away from you. The idea is to show your dog that an open door does not mean it is okay for him to leave.
Step 2: Now give him the “wait” command as you reach for the door. If your dog does not move, say “Good Boy” and give him a treat. However, if he starts to move towards the door, give a cheerful “No No”, and get him to sit down again. Do not scold him, keep it positive. It’s supposed to be fun and productive.
In this article, I’ll be comparing the common Leopard Gecko with the Crested Gecko from the perspective of keeping lizards as house pets. Personally, I think they are both a great choice, but I think the Leopard Gecko is a little more house-pet friendly. Before I get started, an interesting fact I found out about the Crested Gecko is that it was believed to be extinct until it was re-discovered in 1994. I thought that was interesting.
If you’re looking for an unusual looking fish to add to your acquiring him then you might want to consider the Pantodon buchholzi or African Butterfly Fish.
This unique fish almost looks like a butterfly when viewed from above at his fins stick out like wing’s. Native to Africa, this fish lives in the slow moving rivers of the rain forest and has been sold commercially for over 90 years. This fish can grow to be about 4 inches long and can live about five years.
At first sight the title of this article seems a reasonable question for any cat owner. As with most individual members of the human race, we tend to orient our personal world into our own system of logic, predictability and orderliness. We establish our routines and habits to fit a life style that gives us a comfort level free from the fears that always seems to surround us. We are continually reminded of those fears whether it’s broadcast yellow journalism espoused by the news media, or from neighborhood gossip by people who seem to need such excitement because they are either just bored, or think that you’re in need of some kind of realistic jolt into seeing things the way they do. As narrow as that may seem, there’s no doubt that each person organizes their home into some kind of system, that is a life style, that encompasses the concepts of order and predictability with logical results that ensures peace, comfort and tranquility.
