What is the difference between a mentor and a coach? It used to be that mentors guided you through your business hurdles and coaches encouraged you in sports. Now the lines have crossed, and we hear of life coaches giving advice on all aspects of someone’s life, whether it is related to relationships, jobs or personal issues. Mentors now guide people through establishing themselves in a new career, writing a book, or other life changing event. Here are some things to think about if you are choosing between a coach and a mentor with something you want to achieve in your life.

Faith Fills the Hole in Our Soul

Hebrews 11:1 KJV Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen (Hebrews 11:1 KJV).

In studying this chapter of Hebrews I counted the word faith 24 times in this one chapter. Paul illustrates historical examples of how faith worked in the lives of Abel, Enoch, Noah, Abraham, Sara, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, and Moses. Faith brought down the walls of Jericho and closed the mouths of lions. Faith in Jehovah God can set you free. Faith can make you whole.

How many times has someone (an employer, sister, father, spouse) said to you, “Could you be a little more cheerful with the customers” or “I wish you were a little neater around the house?” Many times in the course of our lives, all sorts of people will ask us to be something we are not. Some will be polite about it and some will not.

When I was younger, I spent a lot of time and effort (before and after I got over the rebellious teen years, that is) trying to be everything everyone wanted me to be. Well, I was never going to be tall, blond and beautiful and luckily no one every required that of me, but there were plenty of other requirements that I just wasn’t meeting naturally.

A comprehensive approach to stress management is to make sure you deal with each part of stress. There are three major stresses that need your complete attention: physical, nutritional, and emotional. To be complete, each of these causes of stress need to be studied and dealt with.

Physical stress is tearing you down

To reduce stress physically you have to do the most effective exercise
with the least risk of symptom, injury, and death. Exercise must improve your strength, your cardiovascular system, your body fat, and bone strength. It must improve your muscle mass and its tone.

It is a road that many have gone down only to find disappointment and sadness and frustration and even tragedy. Many have had a look up this avenue and have not found what they were expecting.

In that Old Testament book, Ecclesiastes, at Chapter 2 and verses 1 to 9 - King Solomon begins to think in his heart, that he will test pleasure and try - that he will pursue pleasure - that he will experiment with various forms of pleasure.

Surely Solomon would find satisfaction by going down this road.

The “Bed, Bath and Bus” theory of creativity. Some of you may have heard of it. If you haven’t, it’s the notion that the best ideas come when you least expect it, such as in the bath/shower, lying in bed or waiting for a bus.

For many creating wealth begins with a dream, like the dream of owning their dream home. Creating wealth begins with changing the way you think about the things you want. If you don’t even dare to dream about owning your dream house or driving your dream car then the chances are you will not be making plans to acquire your dream house or your dream car. Maybe your dream is to be able to swim on a tropical beach as part of your daily routine but in your heart you don’t think it is possible, you will probably not be planning to make your dreams come true.
Creating wealth begins with change. Will you change the way you think? Will you make the necessary sacrifices to realize your dream of playing tennis and going to the beach every day before you go to work? Most people would agree being able to drive the car of their dreams and live in their dream house would be the fulfillment of their hearts desire.

1. You are the average of the five PEOPLE you hang around with the most.

When I first heard this I didn’t believe it. That is till I did an honest assessment of my current social network at the time. When I began associating with people like I wanted to be I started changing.

I realized I needed to surround myself with people whom I wanted to be like. I still love my old friends, but I make a specific effort to find and be around people who take risks, think big, and talk about great ideas instead of the latest celebrity gossip or how much they hate their jobs or life.

Wrong, you’ll never become effective at managing your time if you think you are the only one who can do anything correctly. The ugly truth is most people can do many of the things you’re doing now better than you can. You may even recognize this, but you still don’t let them because: you feel threatened, you don’t want to take the time to show someone else how, or you don’t want to spend the money. Until you recognize the value of allowing someone else to do the things that aren’t a strength for you, you’ll remain resistant to the idea.
