There’s no denying that MySpace is one of the most popular social networking sites on the Internet today. With its millions and millions of members, it sure is an internet entrepreneur’s dream to tap into the marketing potential the site offers to anyone who is smart enough to recognize it.
Fortunately, this is no longer just a dream. You can turn it into a reality by following these four first steps to generate traffic with MySpace:
1. Choose the right groups to join in. Make sure that the interests of the groups you join are related to the topic of your site. In this way, the chances that you convince the members to pay attention to your subtle marketing are high.
2. Apply subtle marketing tactics. The last thing you need to do is to blaze in with marketing tactics that can be spotted a mile away. This will put a sour taste in the mouth of the members of the group. They will think that the only reason you joined is to bombard them with ads. You need to have a subtle approach, as if you’re offering additional information you just chanced upon which they might find interesting.
3. Use your bulletins to create ads that are seen by a lot of people. They don’t have to be blatantly colorful and filled with graphics, but they should be attention grabbing without being gaudy.
4. Add people with a lot of friends to your own list. In that way, you will be exposed to a much larger network of people. If you can add people who, aside from having a lot of friends, also share your interests, then that’s a much better idea, because it means the network you’re building is not just big, but targeted.
