Are you one of those people frantically asking around why are those successful people able to achieve their goals easily while others can barely get started?
Well, once again the answer is very simple, their level of enthusiasm.
How enthusiastic are you in achieving your goal? Your level of enthusiasm will greatly determine how fast you will be able to reach your desired destination.
In short, enthusiasm is what really makes the difference between you reaching your goals and you giving up even before you even get started.
“If the only thing we leave our kids is the quality of enthusiasm, we will have given them an estate of incalculable value.” ~~ Thomas Edison ~~
Now most of us know of the 10,000 failures Edison went through during his invention of the light bulb.
However, unknown to many, that was not yet his greatest setback in his life. Imagine at the age of 67, you had your research laboratory razed to the ground by a big fire. All researches, all the hard work and effort all went down the drain. How would you feel?
Sad? Grief stricken? Well, many will be.
And guess what Edison said to his children as he watched his laboratory got devoured by the fire? “Kids, go get your mother. She’ll never see another fire like this one.”
Deep down inside him, Thomas Edison recognized the fact that the best antidote for any tragedies is enthusiasm.
And it is this very enthusiasm that you will need in your all-out war against procrastination.
So how do you get enthusiastic when you are feeling down or sad? Well, my answer is, why can’t you be?
Notice how your feelings changes when you first wake up, step out of your house for work and while you are working.
Does your enthusiasm really have to be dependent on how you are feeling at that very moment?
If you have not yet noticed in my past articles, I have been a strong advocate of one taking control of his or her life.
To be in control of your life means to be the one to choose how you want to feel at that very moment and not to let your feelings lead you by your nose.
Is it possible for you to talk yourself into a positive frame of mind when you’re discouraged? How about constantly feeling motivated and inspired? Are you able to stay focused when a job becomes tedious? When your plan doesn’t go as planned, what will you do? How will you cope with such temporary defeat?
Remember! You have to be in control of your emotions and feelings. You are and should be the master and not the slave.
Below are some tips or advices to help keep your emotions in the tip-top condition throughout your day:
- Emotions and attitudes are contagious and they can spread like wildfire. Therefore, try to keep a distance from those un-resourceful people who keep sending out negative signals. You won’t want to be infected with those negative attitudes and emotions, will you? Thus, learn to associate more with resourceful thinkers, for over the time, their self confidence; self esteems and resourcefulness will eventually rub off on you.
- Note down the time of the day when you are most resourceful and use that time to tackle your most unappealing tasks. Do the hardest job first and the remaining journey will be a breeze.
- Inactivity is a killer! It kills enthusiasm and destroys success. As what my mentor always like to say, “A wrong action is far better than no actions!”
Therefore, make it a point to constantly do something about it. Always be committed to get something done no matter what. This is one very important tip you will need to bring home today.
Of course, these are not the only factors that you need to take into consideration. There are several other factors that you may want to take note of in order to improve your productivity.
So start making a commitment today to constantly learn new stuffs each and every day. Live each day as if it were the last and learn as if you were going to live forever.
“Do something every day that you don’t want to do; this is the golden rule for acquiring the habit of doing your duty without pain.” ~~ Mark Twain ~~
Always remember that enthusiasm is a choice and it is always up to you to make that choice.
